An international scientific writing & publishing workshop for doctoral students

Aalto University and Young Water Professionals (YWP) Finland in collaboration with International Water Association (IWA) are organizing an international scientific writing and publishing workshop for doctoral students in the field of water research. The workshop, free of cost, will be arranged at Aalto University, Finland from 21st to 24th August 2018 and it welcomes all doctoral students from Nordic and Baltic countries.

In this 4 day workshop the professionals will teach the importance of the readership (why publish, what is the message of the paper), the publication process itself, and share the editor’s perspectives to manuscripts and publishing. Additionally, you will get guidance on manuscript writing and research presentation and communication. The workshop is facilitated by Professor Gustaf Olsson. A maximum of 24 students will be chosen based on the applications. Please discuss with your supervisor about the ECT’s of the course – we recommend this as a 2 ECT course. All the participants will get a diploma.

Please apply by sending a one-page abstract about your research (topic and state of the work, manuscript to work with in the workshop) to (waterwriting2018@list.aalto.fi) no later than on May 3rd. Title your email as “WORKSHOP ABSTRACT”.

The selected students will be informed by 11th May. Kindly notice, that all the selected students are required to bring an unfinished manuscript – even an early draft is suitable. Students will get individual instruction on their manuscript, aiming to make it to a publishable scientific paper.
